The (Original) Red Rooster138th + ACP

The Red Rooster was a speakeasy in Harlem frequented by many black elites, including Adam Clayton Powell, Jr. as it was also a hangout for young collegiate population, the venue was nicknamed "The Stork Club. According to the Harlem World blog: "In the 1960's, the space was used by writers and photographers during 'riot duty' for discourse over drinks before heading to Wells for down-home chicken. The space that was one step down in the ground floor commercial storefront on teh outskierts of the Strivers's Row name was apparently open until the 1980's."
