According to the New York Times, The Bigg Apple, was considered a small player in the big business of jazz clubs during the Harlem Renaissance. This small club saw many visitors such as Duke Ellington, Billie Holiday, and Count Basie. It is also credited to have made a contributions to New York's nickname, "The Big Apple." The club has been owned my numerous people including Will Chamberlain, the famous NBA player. It closed in 1986.
